Square Enix Launches NFT Auction for New Game Symbiogenesis
Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts maker Square Enix has announced the launch of its first NFT auction for the upcoming game, Symbiogenesis. The company also revealed that it will be giving out free NFTs as gifts to bidders who participate in the auction process.
Launch Date and Details
The browser-based Ethereum and Polygon NFT game, Symbiogenesis, is set to launch on December 21, according to Square Enix. This announcement comes after the company previously stated that the game would tentatively debut in December, without specifying a date.
NFT Auction Process
Square Enix initiated the first mint and auction process on Monday, with a three-stage rollout that will ultimately see 500 in-game Ethereum NFT characters made available for auction.
During the first window from November 27-28, ten character NFTs will be offered to Symbiogenesis stakeholders and contributors. Another 90 NFTs will be released through a priority mint from November 30 to December 1 for top players who completed challenges in the game’s official Discord server. The largest chunk of 400 character NFTs for Chapter 1 will be offered from December 2-3 to users who were added to an allowlist during the Discord campaign. In all three waves, the NFTs will initially be listed as free to claim. However, if multiple eligible users attempt to claim the same NFT, an auction will be initiated by Square Enix.
Bonus NFTs and Rewards
To encourage bidding and reward users who participate in the auction process, Square Enix has announced that it will give out bonus NFTs during the sale. Anyone who places a bid will receive a free “special countdown illustration” NFT, while those who place a bid of at least 0.05 ETH will receive a “Member Card Red (Colored)” NFT that gives players additional points when they log into Symbiogenesis.
Symbiogenesis and Square Enix’s Venture into NFTs
Symbiogenesis is Square Enix’s first original NFT game, marking the company’s entry into the NFT space. However, Square Enix has been involved in the crypto space for a few years, with investments and collaborations with other NFT projects and games such as The Sandbox.
As the NFT auction for Symbiogenesis kicks off, fans and collectors are eagerly anticipating the release of the game along with the opportunity to acquire unique NFT characters and rewards. With the launch date set for December 21, the countdown to the highly anticipated game continues.
